    6br build

after reading about the canadian and the rifle I thought I might get a winter project with no rush to get it finished, I have always wanted a 6br in my cabinet for some reason and was wondering what people have built theirs on. A quick flick through tm shows Howas are pretty cheap and pretty easy to get stocks for. I seem to remember a few people building rifles on the howa action, any feedback? suggestions of other actions etc?
I have enought rifles to keep me busy but was keen on a challenge of building a cheap accurrate varminter that is equally cheap to run (already got a 223 so dont suggest that )

    this further sparked my interest
    Savage Striker in 6mmBR

current thinking is howa/savage 10 action, boyds left hand/right hand action laminate stock, see how that goes and develop from there

The 6BR is a great cartridge. I don't think I've seen one that doesn't shoot. Harvey Westland in Christchurch is probably one of the best experts on the cartridge in NZ & certainly one of the best "accuracy" gunsmiths we have. He has built a couple of 6BR's for me & my buddy with phenominal results. My custom Remington Model 7 with lightweight sporter barrel routinely shot 1/4moa at 600 yards off a bipod! In a week moment I sold mine but will have Harvey build me another one before he retires.

This thread is nearly two years old

I built a 6BRX haven't done any serious work with it yet, I'm still waiting for an XLR chassis for it, which isn't far away....hopefully...

Can't go wrong, I'm running mine on an XLR , very stupidly accurate.. Magpies at 400 get a it frigid if you leave the brass laying about haha

Yeah, but do you do Sako stocks?
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
