    7mm Norma Mag......anyone got/had one?

As per the title, has anyone either got a rifle chambered in this cal or had one?

Want to know realistic performance figures with 24 or 26 inch tube.....probably 26.

    Cheers

That would be nice Greg, especially after reading what performance your getting out of yours, but im going to be using it on my R8 and I want it to be mag fed. I can utilize the .300 Win Mag magazine insert if I neck down the .308 Norma Mag.

Why not just run with the 300WM ? Good solid calibre...

Sorry I was thinking of the wrong Norma mag, the new one not the old one

Is what you are thinking about similar to a 7mm practicle ?

You could just go 7mmRM, about as much recoil as you would want without a brake.

With 2225 you can get them to move along very nicely

The 7mm-308 norma mag maybe a bit close for the work and money to the 7mm Rem mag, the 7mm STW is easier in a .532 bolt face but might not fit in your mag with out lengthening the 7mm Dakota would fit but needs a .545 bolt face. If you're wonting a simple wildcat with a belt which will fit into your mag beter the 7mm practicle might be a beter bet than the shorter 7mm-308 norma mag for performance and ease of building your rifle and there is already a reamer and loading data available in NZ. But don't forget the good old 7mm mag and 162 Amax.

Ahhhh yes, after have a quick google on the 7mm Practical it appears that is exactly what I'm after and infinitley easier to form than what I was proposing.

Wirehunt - No doubt that the 300WM is a great cal but I have a 7mm Lilja blank laying around doing nothing so I this is the way forward at the moment......and I like being different (read-difficult)

Also, Ive had a 7mm RM so its time for something different and I really want to pushing the 180grainers in excess of 3k without pushing the brass to its absolute limits a-la Crzyman and KG
