7mm prc build - barrel contour?

Hey team,
Looking for some feedback on barrel contour on a 7mm prc build. Considering 22” stainless fluted in a Tikka barrel contour. Most likely will be a suppressed rifle. Anyone running something similar and can comment on whether they wished that had gone with a heavier contour? Rifle will a tops rifle and carried long distances so weight is a factor. Not recoil shy. Won’t see lots of rounds down range at one time.

Other consideration is stepping up to a contour which is approx .670 at the muzzle.

Nice man, I have one in a Bartlein 2b I'm too soft to go much heavier its slightly bigger than a T3

Sounds ideal for your intended use, personally I wouldn’t go heavier in bbl contour. Run a braked suppressor, job done.

I wouldn't go any heavier than a 2b and would prefer a Tikka super light profile.
Mine was a standard weight Tikka profile and really I wouldn't go any heavier than that as there is no need.

I went through the same thought process a while ago when I built a lite weight 7-08. Different caliber I know, but the thought process is the same. I asked the gunsmith who built the rifle for his opinion and his thinking was a heavy barrel will not necessarily shoot better than a lighter one, it’s just more likely the heavier barrel will be easier to tune. I went with a featherweight non fluted contour and it shoots really well. Dean Maisey has a piece on fluting on his website that’s really interesting. His take, in a nutshell, is that it adds nothing to improve accuracy though can be a source inconsistencies that can be very detrimental to accuracy. That’s why I just got the weight I wanted and stuck with that. Recoil can be pretty well managed with a suppressor, and the new braked ones sound even better.

Thanks for the feedback all I’ll stick with the original plan and go Tikka contour.
