Chopped my T3 back to 22" and put a DPT can on, at 24" with the 162 AMax and N560 I was getting 3090 fps, after the chop and can the same load produced 3123 fps ! Not what I was expecting, grouping improved too.
Only other factor that I thought might have influenced this was velocity measured at 24" was at the NZDA range in Upper Hutt, at 22" at the NZDA range Christchurch.
Keeep 7mrm at 24 in get a 7mmo8 for bushpig just my opinion :ORLY:
I was always told speed isnt everything. Seems like everyone want to be up @3000fps
Speed certainly isn't everything, great consistency in accuracy should always be the primary objective, but if you can get near max possible velocity (for your cartridge/rifle package) while keeping that great accuracy then why would you not want the extra advantage from reduced windage and more terminal energy etc/extended useful range?
With suppressing a super short 7mm Rem Mag you need to be wary of the pressure at the muzzle and the effect that will have on the suppressor.
last thing you want to do is wreck your suppressor
Has anyone run factory ammo through shortened 7mm Rem Mags? And if so, what performance are you getting and how is it to shoot?
Don't do it....do what Trooper90 says...or get a short 308....
Just saying...
Seems like you end up simular to a 284 performance with a ton more powder?
