That bloke can't shoot for shit and is a media hack.

Stick the rifle in a decent stock like a KRG Echo and I bet it shoots. The standard stock is nice to carry but not easy to shoot.

Hardly a factory rifle test if he puts it into a custom stock

It’s just one persons test of a factory rifle, don’t get your knickers in a twist

I’d imagine 98% of people on here wouldn’t shoot a lightweight 7prc any better, with no brake or suppressor for multiple 5 shot groups, myself included, that’s punishing

I see on Instagram custom turrets have just been trying a factory Tikka one and it looked like a usual Tikka shooter.

Not that I think it’ll make a difference as tikkas shoot sweet as just the way they are but his testing was in a aftermarket stock

Funny, I don't ever recall a post of your shooting. Just piss and wind I'd say.

I see a lot of shooters on the range and only a small minority are able to handle those cartridges in the 7mm magnum class and up. Even with suppressors or MBs they take quite a bit of experience to shoot well consistently.

Cartidges in the 6.5-284/6.5 PRC, 270/280/7x64, 308/30-06 class etc deliver plenty of energy (or velocity) for NZs biggest toughest animals at any shootable range with a good bit less recoil.

I've seen a hell of a lot of animals (including Tahr) and a 7mm PRC won't make any difference to how they die. If your ego demands a magnum type calibre go for it, but be prepared to be mocked when you decide to sell it for something less snotty.

Agree with the ability to shoot the big magnums and a badly placed big bullet is no better than a badly placed small bullet but steady on mate it’s becoming more and more apparent around here the inflated egos are coming from the il use as smaller cartridge as I can crowed because any thing over 6mm just isn’t needed in New Zealand, I shoot both magnum and non magnum and absolutely love the low recoiling non magnum doesn’t mean I’m going to run out and sell my magnum I like it . People are all well aware of the .223 and what it can do, theirs a hell of a trend on here driven by a limited few of threads being derailed to a you don’t need that why not get a .224. Now that may end up being the case and yes it costs money to chop and change but everyone has different wants and needs and that’s their right it’s half the fun I no I can look back and go yea na won’t do that again it was to light or to big or to long and it slapped the shit out of me couldn’t shoot it to save my self got caught on everything

I think unless you have specific uses, the sensible middle is the best option. cals 25-30 and up to 60gr of powder with 100-165gr projectiles.
