Yeah, I see that
Sight picture after the shot matters for spotting impacts. Easy to build an LR cannon on paper and then find it's either too much gun from a recoil or weight perspective, on the classifieds section after a few months.
Yes the short action magnums will be hot on the heels of the 'traditional" (7mm RM and 300 WM) when loaded to 3" COAL with good powders and bullets, but there is no free lunch.
26" 7mm RM with 180 ELDM and RL26. Hold's it's own out to 1450m ish but max range on live game around 600m
I have 7prcW , 162 eldm at 2900 f/s
22 inches ex 708 barrel.
Soon to cut to 20...
It shoots !
6.5 prc brass easy to source from multiple manufacturers.

I shoot 7 saum and have never found it lacking if wanting short action it’s certainly the better option as you’ll clap the 300 at the heals if trying to run the equivalent in bc as the 7. Brilliant assumptions on hotsoups own personal garage their
No problems sourcing 7 SAUM brass, as mentioned, Cam at Alpine Precision stocks top knotch ADG brass
I have a
7mm Saum - 168g @ 3005fps , Sacks easily out to 600 + best has been 1140ishm On thar and dropped him, 24Inch barrel.
300Saum throws 178gr @ 2910 from an 18inch barrl - Sacks red stags at 627 to date.
7mm PRC throws 175gr @ 3062fps, 22inch barrel, - Untested on animals yet.
6.5 Saum - 156gr @ 2940fps - Untested on animals yet
338 Federal 175g @ 2650fps, Sacks out to 500 so far but a big lobber.
I always pickup the 300 saum.
A vote for the 300wsm! My 20” Tikka 300 wsm does everything i need and more. Its great to shoot with the dpt and muzzle break cap. I just run the factory nosler 165gr ballistic tips. Doing 2980fps It has dropped everything iv shot so far out to 480 yards. Il be keeping this one!
