    AB Precision brakes

Today I took both my Rem700's out for some practise on some steel.

One is a 7mmWSM with a DPT brake, weight is
8.5lb. The other is a 7mmSTW and has an AB Precision brake and weighs 9lb.

Funny, but I've never fired them side by side before until today. The difference was massive, the WSM booted the shit out of me and nearly half mooned me as i'd been using the other rifle and didn't expect there to be such s difference.

Goes to show that not all brakes do the same job.

I'd be interested to see what the differences were on the same rifle. Is there a actual way to measure recoil and jump other than feel?

    Not a fair comparision.

Even with the same brake your 7mmSTW will always kick less than the 7mmWsm.

It is approx 6% heavier & has far more gas volume & gas velocity to make the brake work.

In my vids you can see that the 7-375R recoils about the same as the 308 Montana with the same brake on it, not scientific & not on the same day but a very good indication.

Yep & a brake with ports angling back towards the shooter will work better than one that ports out at 90 degrees to the shooter, both will work better than a radial & be more pleasant to shoot
