Advice on issues with chambering a round.

I have a husqy 9.3x62 and use norma 286 gr projectiles in it, fired several hundred rounds through it of the same ammo and no issues, the bolt is super fluid.

I fired 10 rounds yesterday and no issue then.

Today we came across a mob of goats, I went to chamber a round and hello.. the bolt slides forwards and 1/3 down easily enough but then requires some force to close it fully ? ejected the round and tried another, same thing with next 12 rounds. My mate was saying "just fire it, she'll be right" but I wasn't so sure. All the hairs were up on my neck. This isn't some rimfire and I value my face and limbs.

At home the same thing with another pack I tried.

Bolt seems the same solid brick as always and slides smooth as silk without rounds. ? Ejects round no issues.

Any idea on whats the issue? or is it not an issue and I was being a puss as my mate said ?

Are you reloading? Maybe OAL too long?

OK just re-read your post and using factory ammo - so what does the chamber look like?

I looked at the chamber mid hunt with a torch, nothing I could see. When I got home I passed the boresnake through a few times and looked with a torch, again nothing I could see. Didn't make a difference.

Have only just got into reloading but only for my 308. Oal shouldn't be an issue as 6 from the same pack were fired yesterday and no issues then.No marks on the brass or the projectile and oal doesn't change.

Only thing ive done to it lately is sand some of the stock, but I taped up the action so nothing could get in.Even then, I doubt fine dust would effect it to this issue ? Especially after its been cleaned twice since.

im supposed to be going hunting with it again on Thursday

Stripped the whole thing and given it a serious clean?

Sounds like a build up of crap somewhere if your using factory ammo.

How does it operate without a round? What is normally moving on that last 2/3 of the bolt drop?

Give the chamber a good clean with solvent and especially the bore n throat? Otherwise king screws binding on bottom of bolt?

As others have said...buildup of gunk...cleaning.

Love your choice of rifle for goats...got something bigger for deer?

Do the cases you have fired previously still allow the bolt to close fully when chambered?

    Interesting topic.

Who uses what to clean their chambers ?? I got one of those $20 Guncity Ex Swiss Army cleaning kits for large calibres and found that the 50cal brush is perfect for cleaning the chamber on my 223 .. ...

    What do others use ?

    How often ?
