Advice on keeping flip-up scope caps on

Loving my new Monarch 3 opitic, but nearly lost the front flip-up cap twice today in the bush. Kudos to my boy who found it both times. How do people secure them to your glass? I want a method that is semi-perminent if that is possible.

Cable ties and a single layer of thin double sided tape

Black insulation tape can look ok when done nicely.
Or just try get some caps with a tighter fit, any caps I've had have always had a tight fit and never come close to falling off.

Failing that just get rid of the bloody things, I've stopped using them as they are a pain in the arse!

Lost the ocular off my Monarch too. Not a good fit.
If you wrap a couple of turns (enough to make it a snug fit) of masking tape around the scope then refit the cap. Easy to clean off too if need be.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Self amalgamating tape. Similar to insulation tape, but will not get tacky, or come undone.

I had the highly rated alumina caps on one of mine.....still got wet foggy lenses and were a pain in the arse.
Rather go naked and quick wipe with a thumb if in properly wet weather.....dry windy dusty weather they have their merit tho.

Bit of tape or ditch them, they seem to get caught on everything in the tight stuff. Just cut off a small piece of chamios cloth and wipe the lens when required.

I always have a piece of cham around my neck for the same thing. I keep it in the stock pack on my rifle so I don't forget it.

I don’t bother with them - if stalking with a scoped rifle in the rain, I point the rifle downwards slightly with the rear lense under my armpit, manage to keep both lenses free of rain this way.
