    After Market Triggers

Timney and Rifle Basix Triggers. What are the pros and cons?

    Cons: the price

Pros: far superior to the normal trigger you get in a rifle that's not top end.

All my mausers for example have replacement triggers (Bold, Timney ) all are fully adjustable for weight of pull creep and over travel .

They make your gun sound heaps cooler when talking about it with people on the internet.
Barefoot, greghud, kimjon and 2 others like this.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Once you start ... you might not stop. I 'enhanced' all my triggers (excluding my Sauer which is an absolute dream out of the box) after shooting a mates rifle. A good gunsmith can do a trigger job on most rifles but I did buy a Trigger Kit for my 10/22 as it's just a plinker for my son (and me). The advantage of getting a gunsmith to do trigger work is they all pull the same now with very similar weights and no creep. My deer rifle is a little heavier cos I tend to be a little more puffed when stalking. I couldn't justify a 'drop in' trigger but I suppose if you shoot targets it would be the nuts. From memory I paid about $125 each rifle. Keep safe in the hills!

best thing i ever did was put a timney trigger in my savage hunting rifle and set it to how i liked it as Gunzrrr said once you start its hard to stop because its an other step to better accuracy

The Timney Calvin Elite is a real step forward for them, an extremely nice trigger, look out Jewel

A factory trigger in say a Remington can be made as good as an after market trigger with minimal work. But I have a few Timney triggers which I brought prior to knowing this. The only real advantage of aftermarket is they are fully adjustable, whereas adjustments made to factory are more trial and error to get the right feel for the user.

End of the day, either option is money well spent.

Are you talking about their x mark pro trigger?
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

A lot of people on the internet claim the older rem triggers were superior and the x mark pro is good for nothing, but I have a tweaked x-mark pro (estimate around 1.5lb) on my .223 and it's just beautiful to use. Made an instant and very clear improvement to my hitrate. (Rabbits to 250 was where it was most noticeable)

I prefer the older ones, but the xmark is fine

Getting the CE Timney for my 280 AI project .... so I'm hoping so. Be interesting to compare - i have standard Timney as we as tuned up Rem triggers in other boomsticks.

Not sure that any will surpass the set trigger on my Heym 7x64 though - that is SWEET AS.

I see gunworks have the trigger tech in stock. Some good reviews on it around the net.
