After some accessory mounting advice.

Hi Guys

I'm doing a little improvement project on my Marlin 925 .22 and was hoping someone could help me with an idea or two.

I'll be stickin the project under the project thread soon enough. Basically, free float barrel, open sight upgrade to apertures (tech sights, on their way), trigger job
and a funky LED flashlight mount.

My problem is the flashlight mount. The rifle has the small 11mm or 3/8" dovetail groove setup for scope mounting. It is also drilled and tap. The picture below shows the same rifle with the tech sights mounted:

As can be seen, the front tap holes are free for mounting a bracket of some kind that will hold a torch at an offset. As I can't find a 11mm or 3/8" dovetail offset mount for a torch and only weaver style ones, my thinking is to add a rail which would then take the offset weaver mount as below:

Now my question is....will this setup be low enough as to not impede my line of sight between front and rear sights?

If I'm missing a glaringly obvious way of mounting a torch with open sights on a rifle like this.....LOLS in advance.

Also don't know how to get rid of the images doubling up.

Found a solution.

Front swivel stud mounted one of these:

Well that was sorted quickly! Good idea.

If your stock tapers toward the front (like most do) you are going to have to use a packer so the mount runs parallel with the barrel otherwise the torch will point on an upward angle.

Or mount it on the left hand side so that you can turn it on and off with your thumb, depends if you don't mind marking your stock...

Same here :)

Chuck a sling swivel in the side and away you go... Don't have to worry about the taper of the stock and it is in an ergonomic position.

Aaaaah.... Now that is a good idea!! :thumbsup:

I use one of these clamped to the barrel with great results. As it is parallel to the bore it points dead ahead and can be rotated to the left right (or in my case) under the barrel and does not interfere with slings etc. And I find everything balances and shoots well.

My 22s wear those barrel clamps on the left for a ksn spotlight. Turn off and on with your thumb would post a photo if i could figure how to off my phone it's not andriod or crapple its a BlackBerry, dont laugh.

I had mine machined by a joiner mate. Makes the rail parralel with the barrel
Seems to work. I know it's not for everybody but I like it

thanks for the feedback guys...Im gonna try fireflites sling adapter first and maybe even that side stud mount idea too if all else fails.
