    AICS 2.0

Can anyone tell me if they are legal here with the folding stock?

Yes they are legal as long as the firearm is longer than 762mm with the stock folded.

Yeah that's prob the question I should have asked. How long does the barrell need to be for make 762?

Barrell length = 762mm - (distance from barrel knox to rear most point)

No. What you need to find out is what the OAL of the stock is in its folded position. Then you can work out how long the barrel needs to be to be legal.

Folded the stock is about 565mm. Therefore your barrel will need to extend at least 200mm past the end of the forend to be legal.

Google is your friend. So is asking the right question

Uh yeah I worked that much out for myself. That still doesn't answer the question.

Since I don't know what length barrel is required to get a barrel to extend 200 mm past the forend. AI forends are longer than you'd think and I'm not going to order something on a guess.

I was asking if anybody knew exactly as I know some guys on here have them.

RCGSP you're after the AICS chassis (stock)? or are you thinking the whole rifle AE/AW. I would imagine the stock would be no worries, only once you put it all together you would be 8" shorter once folded. So @ 30" minimum length I'd roughly guess the minimum barrel length would be 20", assuming about 6" for the action and another 4" from the rear tang to the hinge. I do not own one though so not really answering your question. Investing in an expensive (and heavy) stock I'd again assume it will be no bush pig so 20" would probably be too short anyway?

The barrel know is at the front face of the action so barrel length shouldn't matter if the measurement is from this point rearward for legality as Crnkin stated above? Am I missing something?

With his vague and poorly written questions it's no surprise that nobody knows what he's after.

The only way his question makes any sense at all is if he already has a short barrel and wants to know if it will get him to legal length.

However AICS 2.0 + just legal length barrel = silly.

But hey, different strokes for different folks.

A 18 inche barrel get you to a fraction over the 762mm minimum OAL , if thats what you where asking , on a Rem700 Short action .

Measured off my 2.0 , that has a Surgeon in it .

Rem 700 "whactical" in an AICS = a REAL LIVE SNIPER RIFLE (but only when it gets a muller or worse 10-50 power scope in 6 bolt rings)?

A Remington or whatever in an AICS just sort of looks wrong, too small and skinny and round, you need a big fat square AI AW action permanently glued in there.
