I’m a relatively new convert ( 5 years) to Eezox. I long term store rifles and have had mixed success till using Eezox. It’s not petroleum based so does not evaporate. Pleasant to use and also excellent bore cleaner. My only compliant is the daft tin it comes in.Quote:

I did a "scientific" test last year where I put two steel washers outside, one with a lite film of M-PRO7 & one without. Both were thoroughly degreased beforehand. Humidity inside our place ranges from 45-65% but outside however ranges around 60+% where we live. I was impressed with the results considering how long I left the washer outside continuously in all weather conditions.
Your cleaned washers actually started out with an advantage- they didn't have sweaty fingerprints or powder residue on them. Fingerprints have salt and powder residue is somewhat hydroscopic (attracts moisture).
That's right, advantage was intentional.
On a similar test ,wd40 came first. I like crc long life . M pro7 gave me poor results and rust surface started to develop of some of my guns. . CRC lanacote is pretty good as well.

One big problem with tests like this is that they don't prep their steel samples properly.
The washers and the angle iron used in the tests are from hot rolled steel, which has a heavy but inconsistent layer of mill scale on it, with is actually quite corrosion resistant in its own right. To get a real comparison, they should be using polished steel samples.

I use Kroil. Marine industry corrosion protection and has great rust penetrating properties.
More than one way to skin a cat.
I use CRC Long Life for general use and grease all over and in the bore if I’m storing for long periods. I use a very light covering of grease on the lug and underside of the actions in the (composite) stocks too. Works for me.
Grit does not stick to a dry surface..........
