Thread: Anschutz 1532 .222 Rem

I was out spotlighting with an old school friend, and towards the end of the night he asked me "what can I do with a .222 that won't shoot? I can't hit the side of a shed with it."

"What is it?"

"An Anschutz". Now I'm interested. "Happy to have a look at it for you".

I took it home, spent three consecutive nights and a power of Sweets solvent to create some very pretty pools of light blue goo. I'm not sure it had ever been cleaned, or cleaned properly.

I threw an old scope on it and tried some Remington factory 50gn SPs. Neat little groups around 1" at 100m. I rang my friend to let him know and asked how mush he wanted for it. "$350". Sold! This is what it was like:







I stripped off the worn and scratched finish, and steamed out a nasty deep dent in the top of the comb. Refinished with Truoil.



Hand loading with 40gn v-maxes and it really started to shine:
