    Any Remington 40x about?

I have been looking into a .22 to accompany my 700 and after reading online see the 40x is a pretty close goer to the extent it will fit the same stock as the short action.
Haven’t found anything online in NZ, and can’t get the forum search to work on ‘40x’ so thought I would try here.
Anyone have or have had a 40x in NZ? What variant is/was it (sporter, XB, XR, walnut/synthetic stock)?
I’m not is a position to buy at the moment, but what are they worth here?
    Any input appreciated. Chur

The 40x rimfire was made in single shot heavy barrel and magazine fed sporter versions in .22lr.

There are a few heavy barrel single shot jobs about but very few of the magazine fed spotters in ANZ.

    I’m always looking over here.

I've been interested in the "higher end" Remmy 22s for at least 20 years and I've not seen a 40x based 22 for sale in NZ. The 541s come up occasionally but that's about it as far as I can tell . . . .

So I’m hearing they are like Hens teeth… doh!
Have just done some searching and see you could buy a replica 40x repeater action and build your own:

If you were prepared to compromise a bit there are a few of the Bergara "700 clone" 22s about, can't recall the model number

Bergara B14R steel barrel. We imported quite a few. They also made a left hand one too.

Was there not a lad on here doing conversion kits for a Rem700 into a 22LR a while back?

Or has the NZ totalitarian state knocked it on the head?

Oh nice, that would be the go. Don’t happen to have any kicking around anymore? (I see the 55six website is offline). What ballpark retail cost were they so I can get an idea?
    Cheers
