    Anyone rust blued a gun before?

    Just curious, anyone rust blued a gun before? The process looks remarkably easy for such a top finish. Anyone?

    Yep, I have done it a fair few times. Prep is a bitch. It is time consuming and takes half a day in and out of the bath.
    I had some awesome results and some poor ones with the exact same prep and method employed. One of my best results was an old .577 Schnieder.
    Rewarding when it works well as it is a nice finish.

    Keen to give it a go, but you have confirmed what I thought, prep is a bitch an consistency is a problem. Any hints?
