I have bought a few small things from him with no problems.

I think windham is the better rifle out of those choices

Ahh, that changes things! I owned a bushmaster carbon (and I think the windhams are the same?) and it was the only ar I have ever meet that I did not like! Inaccurate, jamamatic and incompatible with standard parts

Windham is good - well, their varmint one is.
I have no complaint. Great groups with the cheap AE223 ammo.

I was considering the varmint barreled one though for service rifle I'd be in the open class with such a 20inch barrel, though I think I would anyway as even the 16inch are not close enough....so what the heck.

I had a look inside a Windham carbon, and other than the carbon receivers, it looked good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I was in the market.

Hi, thanks for your help, but this seems a bit contradictory? "other than" This is the first windham Ive seen comfortably below $2k but I'd be wary of a Carbon body myself, if only because I know so little on them.

I want something that's going to last, and be easy to work with/on not that bothered on the weight saving.

What problems do carbon receivers have/get?

The Stag model 1 (in the middle of the three) would put you straight into service class, if that makes a difference.

I spose it isn't fair to judge the Windham carbon rifles from the Bushmasters reputation, even if they are sort of the same company. Though the one I handled isn't significantly lighter than a standard AR. The local hunt fish has sold shit loads of them.

Thanks I did wonder, and actually it sort of does. I mean I can always get another upper if I want.
