Um, so I looked at all those scientific line graphs etc, but that entire article doesn't really say much does it ?
Take a hollow metal pipe, halve the length and guess what ? Its going to be a whole lot stiffer, so what ?
No mention about harmonics, no mention about fine tuning loads to barrel length/time, no mention about recoil and sound level differences between long and short barrels ...
What i took from it is accuracy is not determined by a length and velocity is just a number, to a point. I found it interesting and the talk of fliers and statistical groupings.
There is no real world on the internet.
If length and velocity dont mean much in terms of accuracy why do target shooters have long barrels?
Toby don't be difficult.:)
A long stiffy is better than a long floppy
A short stiffy is better than a long floppy
A long stiffy is better than a short stiffy
Or something like that :P
Weight and balance also play a part for target shooters Tobes.
I've got a 16" kidd barrel on my .22 and its accuracy is really good. As for centrefire - "short barreled rifles are superior for long distance"- said nobody...EVER haha.
