Barrel options for a 284 Win build- what and who?

Ideally one of those carbon Bartlein will be first prize, but looking at potential options that will not require financing ... for the time being . This is for a hunting rifle in 284 Win on a Rem LA that I have lying around.

So, what options are out there and who should I get in contact with?

Cheapest would potentially be to try and get a Rem 7-08 barrel and rechamber it.

Will a tikka barrel work and how does the thread differ? Suppose the challenge would be to get a gunsmith that will ream a tikka barrel?

Going custom and local, who would you recommend? Hardy, Trueflite, Vulcan or someone I missed?

Suppose next step up would be the Bartlein, Krieger, Shilen etc. Anyone that brings in Walther and Krieger barrels and some of the other less know shops that will perhaps be worth chatting to?

I bought a Shillen CrMo barrel and had it cerecoated. All via Tracey at Dad Eye Dick's. It was chambered in 284 and fitted up by DED for probably the same price as a stainless barrel blank alone.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

My 284 has a rem 7-08 barrel reamed out.

    20"

The deer couldn't tell you what brand barrel it is but it sure puts things down.

Ring up some of the Gunsmith outfits and ask if they have any take off barrels.

Cobus Calitz at guntech nz in te kuiti would be high up my list for work.

That is a very nice rifle you have. Handles so well.

If you want a cheap option I've got a factory Rem 700 20" 7mm/08 cromoly barrel I'd let go for $100+ courier. Had less than 100 rounds through it.

I've also got a basically new Hardy match 22" ceracoted black 7x57 barrel that I was planning on getting rechambered to 284, will possibly let that go.
