Somehow some compound has worked its way in around the bolt lugs, have got most out but still a bit there that is to hard to get with a screw driver due to action port on the tikka.
Thoughts and suggestions? Would a bit of heat help of not good idea? Does anything dissolve the stuff?
Put the bolt in and close it.
Most compounds are epoxy based methylene chloride based paint strippers will swell them and make it soft enough to get out but nothing will dissolve it.
Epoxy softens with heat. Use a hot air paint stripper to gently heat and wipe off.Quote:

cheers for the help, soaked it and touched it with the soldering iron and it seemed to loosen it up and its all out.

It should be ok to take the action out after 24hrs. The epoxy will keep strengthening over the week. Don't be surprised if you have to use a bit of force to separate it.

You should have used either 3 or 5 coats for a smooth release. ;)
The rifle is Fu*ked now so no need to wait another week as the Rifle will still be Fu*ked. :P :cool:

The more I attempt projects such as these,the more I appreciate the vast gulf between my enthusiasm and my ability.
I did one a while ago used lithium grease as the release agent. Only problem l had was some compound got down the screw holes for the action and glued the pins which I hadnt greased all the way down in. Took a lot of rude noises and whacking with a brass drift to get it out, then l had to run a drill through to clean the holes. Bedding was ok after that.
