    Bergara B14 bolt action rifles

So I really like the look of these, anyone using the HMR for hunting and what do you think?
From their web site I like the look of the "Ridge" that has a #5 profile barrel but I dont think they are in NZ.
All I have seen from a wee trawl is the HMR and the hunter series available in NZ

That may be a USA site actually ...but here it is

Nice looking rifle with a nice stock.

Q: Do the Bergara production guns come in a left handed action?
A: As of January 2016, we do not have Premier models or B14's in left handed versions. However we are planning to come out with them in the future.

I've handled the Hmr. Really nice stock on them (they're basically a chassis aren't they? Aluminium chassis with synthetic material molded around it). They feel bullet proof.

Action was very smooth on the one I cycled. Nicely finished.

Big plus is that it'll take remington 700 aftermarket parts.

    For 1500 bucks they're a steal!

I just picked up an HMR. Far too heavy for a general purpose hunting rifle. Be ok if you cart it in somewhere and shoot from a stationary position or hunt off a quad or something, but it's not something you would be wanted to be bashing through the bush with. Quite happy with the build quality. Nice trigger, slick action. The timber and woodsman rifles look nice if you are looking for a hunting rifle.

I picked up an HMR in 6.5 CM just after the Sika show. To date I have shot the Tarata and Gentle Annie steel shoots with it.
Very happy with it. Nice rifle, shoots well and excellent value for money.
I agree with Beavis on the weight aspect, I wouldn't want to carry it through the bush all day.

Good to know guys, so maybe a hunter version would be a better choice for a multi purpose. I'm not sure entirely what model range we get here in NZ. After all the holidays have finished I will make some enquiries.
I really want to stick with 260 Rem though as I have a lot invested in dies and cases, wonder what it would be worth to have one reamed a bit deeper

I don't know about ream it to 260 but i can assure the creedmoor is a great option. I got one of the Hunter models and i am stoked with it… shot 3 deer in 2 months and the results/accuracy is outstanding. I fully recommend the Hunter model over the HMR for a carry rifle and i do know what i am talking about, i have carry my RPR in couple hunts…
