    Bergara B14 rifle

Does anyone own one of these yet? Hear they are very accurate and come at a reasonable price. Like the look of the timber model (wood/blued). Have a tikka atm shoots well but you know what its like sometimes ya just want a change.
    Cheers.

Yea I had one in 7mm rem mag was extremely accurate and nice to shoot they take rem 700 parts which makes them easy and affordable to modify. Mine fouled up quickly and developed quite bad fire cracking in the barrel maybe if I’d been a bit more proactive with de coppering the barrel it might not of been an issue

I had an HMR in 6.5CM that was extremely accurate and satisfying to shoot.

Mates HMR 14 regularly managed 3 inch groups at 600m, Build quality (and function especially) is better than my custom built hunting rifle i spent 3 x as much on.
I think they are bloody good value for money

Have a HMR in 6.5CM and very, very happy with it.
Build and finish is excellent. A bit heavy, long and awkward for the bush but perfect for everything middle to long range where you setup and wait for something to walk out. Taken it out to 700m so far on steel and will go a lot further if I would be a better shooter. Can only recommend...

I'm still exploring my one in 300WM and working up a load for it. It seems to like 208 ELDM on 76.5 2217, but I'm going to play with that a little more. The stocks on the B14 hunter are OK but have no sheek rest so I've built mine up ahead of putting a proper cheek rest on. I'm happy with it so far but still breaking it in. Here's a vid of it smashing a 10" gong at 560m.

I just got one in 308. Shoots bloody well, tried a whole heap of factory ammunition and it shot everything under an inch including Winchester factory subs.
Below group federal blue box at 100m, two in the same hole and the other one was probably me as only 5x mag scope

As a side note, damn that federal blue box is good stuff, cheap, effective and every rifle and caliber I have shot it in it shot awesome

I think that Federal really have their projectiles' ogive shape sorted for ordinary factory chambers. Their Fusion and TBT reloading bullets are easy to get to shoot.

    What does "fire-cracking" mean @Gusto?

Fire-cracking - when the cartridge is fired in the barrel chamber a very hot flame follows the bullet down the barrel. The flame erodes the bore of the barrel. If you have a look with a bore-scope you may see a longitudinal cracked/eroded surface for a larger or lesser distance down the bore from the neck of the chamber. Overbore cartridges are more prone to firecracking than underbore cartridges. An example of an overbore cartridge is the 243Win. An underbore cartridge example would be the 7.62x39. The larger the amount of powder for the smaller the bore, the greater the effect of firecracking. I first saw this inside the bore of my Sako 243Win. The barrel had 750 counted rounds through it and the bore was significantly firecracked for a few inches of the bore and was losing accuracy. The more shots taken in the shorter time, the worse the firecracking becomes. The 750 shots were mostly hunting rabbits at longish ranges, with significant cool down time between shots. 750 rounds out of a 243Win is getting to the point of no return due to the firecracking. A new barrel and getting it fitted was a significant cost. So, each of those shots was not just the cost of the cartridge but also the erosion of the barrel. If the firecracking becomes too rough it may damage the bullet so that the bullet does not just become less accurate but comes apart rather than reaching the target.
