    Bergara Scout

Saw one in my local H&F today, good looking rifle in 7mm08. Anyone got one or handled one, if so what do you think of it?

Pretty much comes down to if you want an exposed hammer or not.

I've handled one in 308, nice handy bush rifle.

Other option is Baikal Izh-18 at half the price.

If you want to scope it, the Bergara comes with a rail, if you want to go open sights like Skinner, the Baikal is easier - just use the rimfire dovetail model from skinner.

Not sure if the Scout is take-down ?

Bought one for my younger brother in 223 (machined out from a 222 factory chamber)... It's VERY accurate, simple, sturdy, essentially doesn't care about weather or cleaning.

The only things i dont like about it are its immense weight, and the inability to open the action with the hammer cocked, simply cos my 10yo brother isn't confident to ease the hammer back in on a chambered round after an opportunity for a shot passes, and can't break it open and pull the bullet out unlike his .410

And when you put a harris bipod on it the angle of the forestock where the forward stud is causes the bipod legs to fold up either side of the f'n barrel

Nice rifles, trialled one in 44mag and .357. Apparently they have match grade barrels in them. Was too heavy for my liking even without scope, shot really nice with Fibre optic sights though

Saw it in H&F and it was like gun porn. They have put a scope on it, but thinking of putting a Bushnell trs - 25 red dot on it if I decide to go for it
