    Regarding your comment about buying a decent 22 as a city dweller. Apart from range use I use my jw15 at a family friends property a handful of times a year mostly spotlighting possums. So it makes more sense to me to buy something cheap as it doesn't need to be a tack driver to shoot possums. But in saying that there is a lot of choice in the second hand market for 500 odd dollars which isn't a huge amount to spend on something nice.

    When I use it more I'll eventually upgrade.

    I have a newish Marlin 25 and it is an excellent .22.
    I also have an old Toz 17 which is even better made and outshoots it.

    I would buy a second hand bolt action - .22's virtually live forever because the bores hardly can wear out, and the wax from the bullets preserves the bore from rust.
