Best way to get hold of a ruger 10/22 for a project

So im in the middle of getting together parts to put together a high end 10/22
Have got a green mountain match barrel
Laminated stock
Will be buying a kidd trigger when money allows I will also be going aftermarket on the buffer
So I really only need a receiver bolt and spring
The rest I will be using after market parts
So what’s the best way to go about this

Try and find a complete rifle 2nd hand on the cheap and sell the unused parts as parts
Buy a brand new one and sell parts as brand new unused parts
Try and find a receiver bolt and spring only

Suggestions?

If anyone has anything arround that might suit chuck me a pm I have to rebuild a bit of money now... so won’t be ready to buy for a couple of weeks

dont gun city sell those two things separately for people doing exactly that?

Buy the Kidd spring kit while you are at it as well. Great kit with 3 spring weights to tune the action cycle.

Yeah mate I had a kidd rifle for 5 years so am Familiar with the spring kits worst call ive ever made to sell that rifle

Yeah they do but I reckon they are 2 expensive $150 for an receiver and another 150 for a bolt
300 and you still need a couple more bits like springs etc to make a working action
So looking at closer to 400

Ive slept on it and I think the best way is to buy a 2nd hand rifle
That way you have a functioning rifle till you can afford the rest of the parts
Then sell the factory ones

all i can say is that barrel to receiver fit is just as important as parts involved. gundoc built me one years back that did 1 moa (at 100m) and it mostly came down to barrel fitting. i would also suggest if using a bull barrel is to have a cantilever scope mount mounted to the barrel not receiver

damn true! they can
i had an alloy soldered base on a standard receiver, the barrel was ex factory but seriously mounted on. the damn thing was a tack driver but a little heavy to carry hours on end for small game. currently i run a 10/22 with a choate drag stock and a 3-12 scope i can still nail bunnies at 100m but its mainly because of barrel to action fitting

100% agree with GT, gundoc tweaked my one as well, mine had a very good barrel / receiver from the factory so I was lucky but the quality seems to have improved over some of the old stuff.
Gundoc made some other little touch ups and tweaks also, mine is a tack driver with a 5 mm group at 50 mtrs achieved .

get a secondhand 10/22. the new ones are so expensive it makes little sense to buy them. Or just buy KIDD receiver, bolt etc.

Why did you choose Green Mountain by the way?
