I get what you’re saying about a strong room but it just won’t work here

Shipping container while an ok idea im totally against that one aswell i live on a flood plain which does flood on a regular basis ( a few times a year) so a shipping container at ground level is out of the question
And even if it wasn’t I wouldn’t store guns in one due to condensation I had a mate (no longer with us sadly) who had a massive collection stored in a shipping container and he had that many guns (well over 300) he was in there every day toping up oil on a few guns he would get round in 3 weeks then start again it was constant
I wouldn’t even store guns in a garage they need to be in a warm lived in part of the house

When I moved here I originally put my safe in the garage and they went rusty almost instantly
So I had to move the safe into the house and get the ao back to re approve im a black powder shooter for the most part so my guns are alot more prone to rust than most peoples stainless tikka
I don’t own a single stainless rifle or plastic stock and alot of them are rare antique rifles that I have the responsibility to look after so the next generation can still enjoy them

Ive just built a room of stout construction in a new house, but built in doesnt suit everyone. Having done a ROSC theres no reason you couldnt build one (using 17mm+ ply and a good door to suit a space in your house, fasten it down properly and bobs your uncle, it would shift with you etc . Probably a dammed sight cheaper than a steel safe too.

Also can recommend a goldenrod heater - keeps everything warm and dry

Did you have to use a door off a bank safe?

Talked to TSL this morning they sounded pretty confident they could offer a competitive price with gun city so I have asked for a quote based on the measurements of the 51gun Winchester one
Will see what they come up with

Has anyone dealt them before are they good to deal with?

Mate has a large rotary safe, makes gettting at the rifles very easy.

51 gun my ass unless all your rifles are single shot .22's - go to gun city and ask the to put 10 scoped rifles in there and then see how much space is left as others have said nowhere near 51 guns if you have scope rifles or afew shotguns

I've had it for a few years now and it works well. Has lights and power points for dehumidifier etc as well

Yeah I know im fully aware of that buddy
But That's all commercial gun safes I’ve never seen one that comfortably holds what it says
That’s why im planning to get a massive one
Because I never plan to own even half the amount of rifles it says it holds
So should hold my collection and some other valuables comfortably without banging them together etc

A pair of smaller 14 or so ones, seperate the wood and blue from the synthetic and stainless. That’s my approach to it.

No you don't, you can reinforce a door or custom build one to meet the specs but using a vault door is just one metric f-ton easier than building or reinforcing one yourself. It's just a case of adding sufficient securing to the vault's door frame to secure it and hang the weight and go from there...

A ROSC doesn't need to be built into the structure of the house or shed and has the distinct advantage that you can airgap it off the ground for ventilation. This fixes a few of the worst corrosion causes in one foul swoop as it were. Steel boxes sweat, safes are steel boxes so you aren't going to avoid that problem.

I don’t see the moisture topic as an issue with the container in a building? I am looking at building a room and think the 10 Ft container with walk in steel door in place of the double container doors. It would be easy to set up a circulating fan to circulate air. I would line it with ply. What I like is the ready made box to start with.

I just built a room inside my shed I put a solid door with deadbolt on it so the whole room is a safe.
I also have my safe inside as well, I have cupboards with loading components and a load bench all inside the room.

Om thanks for info been looking into a room and making a strong door and frame seemed quite easy for me to do..
