I have fantasized about a k95 for awhile out of interest recoil on something like a 6.5x55 in a k95. Surely would be less than the 6 pound scoped 7mm08 kimber I run now or is the stock shape a bit of a factor. They do look lovely. I'd also live to know if you spend much time worrying about the finish? I'm using abit rough with rifles.

It's just the weight re recoil

I don't worry much about the finish
The scars are a badge of honor
My one fell over 100m down a cliff and looked just fine compared to me

@Dreamer @Lucky are you guys using a suppressor?
I know what you mean about weight vs velocity, it is physics. I have a 6.5 prc shooting a 147 at close to 3000 fps and had to put a heavier scope on the light weight tikka to tame the recoil.
@akaroa1 what is your load for that 6.5 cal? Can't find F. A on the Web about it. Sounds interesting.
More people than I thought with the k95 which is cool!

@Gkp I got mine factory threaded but just don’t think it’d be right to hang a supp off the end if you know what I mean and as @akaroa1 said re the stock I’ve taken mine for one walk so far and already marked it. It’s not going to be a safe queen.

@Gkp , not at the moment , I was thinking of getting another barrel at some stage and suppressing that one , there was a second hand one at Rivers to Ranges in Hastings at Xmas , think it was a 25-06 and was $5500 from memory , be worth giving them a call as there is quite a wait when you order new .

Only prob would be my left handedness. Worth a call but. Thanks.
HRE would be able to re barrel it to any caliber using the old barrel.

Dont discount 2506 as a calibre it might actually be a perfect match of recoil and performance with a K95. 110 AB at 3300 and very easy to shoot well

    Blaser K95

    Gkp,

I know you asked about Blasers but if you see a Merkel K3 or 4 they are also well worth looking at. Very similar in design, quality and ability.
This one is in 7x57R. Has a 3-9x42 Khales on it in QD Rectnagle mounts. 2.4kg bare and 2.8 scoped. Scarily accurate.

For the 6.5 x65R in a K95 you can use 264 mag data
Most of the European data is for older style single shots that aren't as strong as the Blaser

I thought the big 6.5 was an ideal alpine caliber
It was a toss up between a big 6.5 or 7mm
Then a 20 year old left hand 6.5 that has never been fired came up for sale in Germany
    Grade 4 walnut
    Nice engraving
It was a cabinet queen !

I have heard of the Merkel. What kind of cost comparison are they? Looks like another good option

I can feel the single shot sickness coming on! Hopefully the nx8 is not too big for one

NZ Ammunition co have some Merkels on the way, don't know if they have included the K3 or K5 etc but might be worth a call to ask.
