Ya know... personally I prefer the R8 over the R93... fit wise, it points better, comes up better, and a nicer stock shape than even a Sako 75. The extra weight is because of a stronger action and personally I like the detachable trigger group. Its pretty noticeable when the trigger is missing unlike a magazine. The mass is centralised more and it does feel solid because of its small overall size, but that is mostly perception.

We are talking 3.3 kgs bare rifle with my shortened 18" 6.5x55 barrel and 2.9-3 kgs for a finnlight. Similar for a R93.

300-400 grams... I'll trade that anyday for a better fit and the other plusses....

However if somebody wants to produce a quality stock in CF with the internals in the professional style and could take it down by 700-800 grams without wanting to charge new rifle price for it.... well that would be a win wouldn't it.

While I accept that it feels solid... it sort of makes me chuckle that most seem to miss the point that the rifle itself can be configured as a bush gun, with short barrel and light optics at around 8.5lb in a medium calibre, and convert to a serious LR capable rig for less than 10lb with serious calibre/optic options.

Like R93 says... single scope across barrel use isn't practical, and his aimpoint/cheap bush scope and dedicated LR optics in the backpack is a lot better than using a March 3-24 as a bush beater...

In terms of a versatile platform, there isn't much that competes... if the weight thing is a prob... do the R93 or pay plenty for some carbon fibre or both...
