How much weight did you save by going carbon wrapped barrel? Like you I think the R8 is over weight so built a R93 with carbon stock, fluted barrel, 2.5-25 march scope & aftermarket scope mount. I might look at adding some carbon wrapped barrel's if the weight saving is worthwhile.

With after market saddle mount, lighter scopes and carbon wrapped barrel it lost 1 1/2 lbs.
I also lost some weight in the stock.

I had exactly the same set up as you with fluted barrels and march.
My .223 set up is heavier now than my .260
