    Blaser R8/R93 Saddle Mount - lower cost alternative...

    I recently freed up a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x32 for the Blaser, but all my saddle mounts were running 1" rings for the Loopies I have been using. So I set about sourcing some 30mm rings for the Blaser mount and found a lower cost solution on Ebay from this Bulgarian guy, Bojan Stoyanov, who uses the ID zruncho. He is manufacturing quality versions of the Blaser saddle mount with a variety of ring sizes and base options including picatinny, QD and non-QD. I took a punt and bought a complete QD saddle mount with 30mm rings for US$330. It took 10 days to get here from Sofia, came with spare cap-screws and allen keys and it is very well made. As you can see from the pix, it's a bit bigger than an original Blaser version, and has been lightened by the machining of additional holes, we can be used to fit the rings in alternative positions if required.

    I'm pretty pleased with the machining he's done on the cam/clamps, and I don't think there is going to be any zeroing issues with it.

    I have 3 of his saddle mounts and they are all sweet. All work a treat and I would consider them as good if not better than the original. Has he pestered you about the hunting in NZ
    Very keen on one of those 2.5-10 x 32 NF scopes for myself.
    What reticule are you using?

    Hi Dave, I haven't had any comms from him not related to the sale. I actually think he is in the US, and his machinist is in Bulgaria. I have the MV Reticle and for the 300WM 155 SMK at 3150 zerod at 100m, the hold-overs look bang-on according to the NF software.

    1 = 0-168m
    2 = 142-230m
    3 = 282-321m
    4 = 393-418m
    5 = 500-517m
    6 = 606-618m

    Cheers, Ray.

    Nice! Yeah he is in the states. He sent me a message one day asking about hunting here. He grilled me for ages after I answered. Good bugger but.
    I forgot to tell you about him, when you were looking for 30mm rings. He sent me a set of 30mm rings last year for 50 bucks when I needed a set.

    That is a good mounting option. My pet hate with the saddle is the damn screw head on the wedge for the cam lock. I think I have broken about 3 screw drivers now trying to undo/ do up a saddle that had become seized.
    The 2.5-10 is also a scope I would like (esp the MV Velocity reticle) for my 7mm-08 barrel.
    The rings you have are not too high? It looks like they could be lower with the NF.

    Bugger! I always try to keep my saddle mount locks, lightly lubed. I actually got a cheap set of 1/4 drive screw heads from somewhere and one fits the saddle screws perfectly.
    I got the low rings for those mounts, and from memory, they look similar to the one with the NF mounted. The loopy looks higher but. Maybe the photo?

    How much further back does it allow you to mount a scope?

    It allows about a cm more than the factory Blaser. Allows a bit more spacing (approx cm) of the rings as well.

    Both scopes centre axis are 30mm from the flat top of the bolt carrier so that would mean the 30mm rings are actually lower, and my cheek-weld and head position can remain unchanged.

    Yep, the rear ring ends up 15mm further back than the original... Is a much nicer looking mount too.

    G'day

    Ive just purchased a R93 and need a saddle mount for it . I stumbled across this thread and would just like to check with you guys that this eBay seller is still OK to deal with ?
    He doesn't have a 100% feedback rating and I'm always a little nervous when I see that .
    Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

    He's all good Ken. I just got another mount and rings off him a couple weeks ago.
    They were delivered within 10 days.

    That's good to hear , going on price its the best option I have found .
    Can I ask what type of mounts you have got off him ?
    I need to mount a Zeiss Duralyt scope with a 50 mm objective will his standard 30mm rings be high enough to handle this scope ?

    I have 4.5 - 18 x 50 Kahles mounted on standard 30mm rings and there's plenty of clearance on my R93.

    I have got 3 standard saddle mounts and one with a rail off him. I have 5 sets of rings from 1" to 34mm
    I dont have any scopes with a 50mm objective but have more than 5mm clearance on a couple 44mm scopes with standard rings.
    KiwiJames has a Premier mounted on his. He may be able to confirm if he needed to use higher rings.
