Brno model 1 project (brno model one barrel thread??)

Well I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more guns for a few months but this Brno model 1 was in a sorry state and needed Rescueing and it was very cheap
It needs a new barrel for a start
The action is fine and it has the original stock bottom metal and mag
But is missing the original screws

So rather than a restore I thought I would do what you just can’t do with a good one
And build a target/ varmint rifle from it by installing a heavy barrel and replacing the hardware shop screws for proper ones
I want to keep this a reasonablely cheap project
Obviously a bit of money will need to be spent but I have a mate who can change the barrel for me on the cheap

I have a couple of questions though
1 dose anyone know the action/barrel thread on the model 1
    2 what barrel to buy
I was thinking bsa martini but where to find one in good condition
Guncity chch has a few anshultz ms54 barrels listed which I know are good shooters
And my mate has a spare kidd 10/22 barrel but it’s only 16.5”
Which might end up a little to short after the work needed mind you 15” is probably plenty long enough
Was wondering if the shank where the 10/22 barrel slips in could be Simply threaded
To screw into the brno action Obviously you would need to trim of a little to re cut the ejecter recesses
But should still end up with 15.5-16 from the 16.5 kidd barrel if this would work
I would prefer to use the kidd barrel as a know how bloody accurate they are

Ill tag @gundoc and @Wingman as both might have some info

    Cheers in advance

When you pull the Brno barrel you will have the thread info in front of you. The Anschutz Match 54 barrel has oodles of meat for threading, and it will need extensive turning to get the weight down for a sporting rifle. Shorten it at both ends to get the best part of the barrel (20 inches is any Gods amount long enough for .22 LR). There is probably enough meat at the breech to keep the chamber if you want, but I would shorten and rechamber it anyway. Like the original Brno barrels, the Anschutz bore is slightly tapered to the muzzle.

some other reading suggests the original barrel might be very tight to undo also.
    gundoc will know I'm sure

But as gundoc posted once its off you will know. I suppose its handy to track one down if you are lucky without having to take it off.

I have custom built a couple of these beautiful rifles. I find the best mounts are Ruger rings that I modify to fit. They look really classy.. Have got spare parts if you need any.

@garyp you wouldn’t happen to have a spare set of screws both the front and rear wood screws and action screws?

Go to steelmasters and get socket headed screws for a few cents.
