    Budget scope for .308

Hey guys, I am wanting to replace the scope on my Marlin x7 .308. The Hawke scope that came with the package I bought from H&F seems shit. I can't get shots to stay in the same place and sighting it in again today adjustments on the dials sometimes made not difference at all or went the wrong way.
Anyway I don't want to spend alot and like the idea of BDC type reticle and a 3x9x40 scope. So looking at Nikon Prostaff or Vortex Crossfire II which are both around the same price. Any recommendations or advice on these two scopes?
    Thanks

I have a vortex crosxfire II with the v bright illuminated reticle on my 223 it's ok and holds zero no worries but it does loose a bit of clarity at 9x zoom.
Woukd trade it for a burris fullfield II any day of the week

I have the rimfire version of the Nikon Prostaff and its actually quite nice, I'd probably rate it above a VX1 optically. Its all very well people suggesting Bushnell Elite etc, they are nicer but also another price range up.

Check your mounts and rings are tight before spending the money on a new scope though if its only holding zero that you aren't happy with.

Thanks guys, I did have a loose front stock screw.. and thought that was the issue but being tight did not help the sighting in of the rifle. I have checked all other screws and seem all good to me. The options I had suggested were around $300 - $320 which I am OK with. The Burris seems to be $450?

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

Bro my suggestion is buy a expensive one and cry once even if you get it on intrest free hire Purchase from h&f through qcard
Just finished paying a grand worth of scope off that way about $16 per week intrest free
Don’t do it if it’s not an intrest free deal though as you’re paying 24% extra even more
I like nikons I have a 3-9 prostaff on my 22 but all the centerfires have 4-16x50 monarchs
