    Bulging suppressors

Went out shooting with a couple of guys today and we noticed one of the guy's suppressor's was looking a little odd. The calibre is .223 so nothing too heavy and this is whats happening to it after less than 100 rounds:

I've heard of another near new .223 supressor bulging.
In this case, it was replaced by the manufacturer immediately.

I have Reflex T8s on my .223 and .270, so will never have that issue.

send it back, there wont be any issue getting it replaced. The only one i've seen do that got very hot with rapid fire and the alloy soffened.

To be fair the photos make the bulges look worse than they are because of the angle to the light but its still not good. Is this similar to what the Hardy suppressors did before popping on the magnum ones?

This rifle hasn't been rapid fired. Its on a short barreled CZ527. I'm sure he'll have no issues getting it sorted its just a pity GW isn't open until the end of the month.

How short is the barrel? an what powder? (if reloaded) or brand of bullets? (if brought ammo).......................it will be deralium?

Only other gun works i have seen like that went poof very fast, but was on a wsm (not mine)

But iv had funny things happen with my suppressor on my 243 with short barrel an full case of n165, cases coming out black as hell.........iv assumed its from the unburnt powder blowing up in the suppressor as it gives it a hard time more so than a magnums etc.

Is it a REAL Gunworks can or was it brought from Guncity and have Gunworks on the side?

Its a real GW one. It was sent to GW to get done so pretty sure. Barrel is 16 inches or so. Factory ammo only through it, Hornady, Blackhills, Federal and Winchester so far. I'm guessing it is duralium as it is around 380gms in weight.

Spanners, I didn't think the copied ones went so far as actually having "Gunworks" stamped on them as well?

They were either marked them Gunworks or Robbie was drunk (VERY VERY drunk) when he made it - it had Gunworks on it and was DEFINATLY not their quality.

It could well be getting a secondry ignition with a short barrel. If the factory round hasnt burnt all the powder before the bullet leaves some of the unburnt powder sits in the suppressor, this builds up and then there is a bigger bang. I've had this before with a short barrelled suppressed rifle and using powder to slow burning. Just a thought.....
