    Buying firearms from Aussie

Anyone bought a shooter from Oz and brought it back to NZ? What's involved if you don't have an Aussie licence.

I have seen a nice cough.... ahem..... cough sako I would like to grab and after talking to the dealer they were not sure either.

    Any help appreciated.

Would say the tricky bit would be getting them out of Aussie, brought in 3 firearms from SA last year, getting them into NZ was the easy part, an application and about a week for the permit to arrive.
Getting them out of SA took 6 months and lawyers and quite a bit of money!

I am doing this at the moment getting a rifle out of Perth,
Very straight forward but will be affected by which state you want to deal with

I have spoken to a police contact and been told I need a dealer to send it to the airport and get a customs thingy and away from there. Depending on cost it may not be worth it.
I will also have to get something from the police at our end.

My temp aussie fal turned up in the mail today for my early August NT blast up.
I'm taking two rifles with me and depending on who you talk to in aussie customs its either easy or hard, one turkey emails a shit load of complicated forms to fill out while the other person said all they need is the B709 which the cops have sent me with the license. Time will tell I guess.

You will need an import permit from your AO, mine filled one out on the spot for bringing them back into NZ.

You cant even buy mags over there without a license and export permit, mind you I purchased a few mags from an aussie supplier recently and he just posted them to me so wtfk's.

TBF I have had a bit of a run around as well. I have asked the dealer a price to send it to NZ and let them sort it at their end. If its not a huge expense and due to the rare calibre, I will grab it. I have been looking for one for ages and being in a Sako it seems to be worth the hassle.

I bought 5 rifles back in 2010, I had to apply through the local arms officer and the Australian defence force for an export permit which they issued including a years export license, I removed the stocks and sent them with my HHR and bought the actions and barrels through as luggage, no issues at all. Maybe moving back for work so will revisit the process as there are heaps of cheap Brnos and kricos in OZ
