I had a DPT can on a 17hmr, lovely engineering and ok sound suppression but I really have doubts about modular design.
Funny thing is I have a DPT old style can . says 25-06 max on a 223, could beat to death an elephant with it ( so it's heavy ) awesome unit, shot some excellent groups with it, I know it's on a 223 but great design.
Because of the baffles I don't think they evenly foul up, some of my baffles were quite clean while others were gunked to fuck, I don't know enough about the mechanics, harmonics, pressures etc...this is only an observation.

I think you will find the insides of a non modular are pretty similar to a modular.... You just can't see the crap in a non modular

no i dont think so, totally different design that from what i have foul evenly, dpt modular baffles dont.

what brand are you talking about that doesnt need cleaning out of interest?

sorry terrible typing. to go back over that. my old dpt can looks like a gunworks clone, it remains very accurate. the little non dpt suppressor on my .22 only runs sub sonic and yeah as greg says they are dirty little buggers. however it's never cleaned and has done 1000s of rounds over 7 plus years, still excellent.
this isn't a dig at dpt as i think their suppressors are outstanding nz made products, all i am saying is they may require more cleaning than other designs because of the baffle design.
