I can go down to the 2 dollar shop and by a massive sharp good for nothing knife for 20 bucks, but a rusty old bayonet is just to dangerous. Sooooooo do any of you guys have one you wana sell. 100 dollar max.

If you are paying $20 for anything at a $2 shop you are being ripped

Yes I do understand. The last 1907 I sold had to go by NZ Post...what a lot of fluffing around. Anything with gun oil on it can be picked up by the dogs at any major mail room. If found it is confiscated.

Bayonets are banned from import. An import permit gives you a dispensation from this. Again, retarded laws, made by retards.

I concur. I saw some nice ones cheap ish on line over seas. Thought this could be the go! Looked up customs restricted list. Got to area about knives. Got half way down and thought this is good so far only street gang weapons and double edged blades, three quarters the way down, felt pretty convinced I was all good to go here!! And there you have it. Soloed out at the very bottom "bayonets"

    Dam you laws!

Why don't you just get an import permit? They're free.

Just a little bayonet story...way back when I was about 12 years old the army dumped a load of bayonets to be sold for scrap to Japan, they were [11,000 of them] dumped in a pile on the wharf at Mt Maunganui awaiting shipment. The local paper did an article on them and every kid in town pinched one and we had sword fights all over town...to the best of my knowledge no one was hurt badly. I know of one wharfie who pinched one for every pig dog he had so he could hammer them into the ground and chain his dog to them.

Nice story! I would have taken one every day also! When I was 14 I found a 1907 snapped in half buried in a farm garden. It was mint after a bit of cleaning. Loved that thing. Gimp, I would if I could but got no car or legs at the moment.
Hoping something might pop up saving me all the hassle too!

Is it not considered the same as a knife?
I imported a knife no worries at all through Youshop last year?

    No.

Particularly a 2-foot-long sword bayonet like the 1907.
