Does anyone use one of these with a magnum caliber without a break or surpressed? Ive got a tikka 7mm Mag an looking into buying one but am worried recoil may become unmanageable an im not keen on a getting it breaked or surpressed. Thanks

I have and I would not do it again .

Yep 300wsm it’s ok with a limb saver pad fitted.
Yep, 7mm REM and 7mm SAUM both in CF stocks. Shoot both with out suppressor or brake no problems. Going to put one on my 300WSM next. Pay close attention to the design of stock - you want a straight comb that directs recoil back in straight line and avoids muzzle jump. Definitely go for a lime saver pad. Add a suppressor or brake and it’s very easy
have a stug cf stock on my tikka 7mm rem with limbsaver and suppressed and its no worries to shoot.
did this on the weekend, crappy old tikka shoots pretty good :)

How heavy are these rifles though? Could have a cf stock and still not be all that light. Have shot my cf stocked 270wsm (3.1kg scoped) without the brake, once, that was enough to convince me the brake was a good investment
From what i understand a cf stock is only going to be around 300grams lighter than the standard plastic tikka stock? (once bedded and limbsaver attached) so wasnt sure if recoil would be that much more noticable as i find it not too bad at the moment. I was looking at the southfort labs NZ Hunter model, knowing that eventually when the barrel wears out i will replace it with a fluted barrel and possibly have it breaked then. It shoots fine as it is but it annoys me how little the barrel clearance is as crap seems to always get wedged in under it, and its spends most of its time being carried an not used being for hunting only so a little less weight would be a bonus.
Yeah weight is a factor in perceived recoil for sure. In my case SAUM is 6lbs bare rifle (model 7 REM) and REM mag about 6.8 lbs bare rifle from memory. Tikkas are fairly light to begin with but 300 g less should be no issues with a good stock design and limb saver
If you want a decent recoil pad out a cavaletti microcell on it. Way better than a limbsaver.
If your hunting with it your only shooting one or two shots so no brake or suppressor won’t matter. You won’t have a clue where your bullet went but as long as it hits it she’ll be joke.
other question would be,
Why do you feel you need a 7mm rem mag as a carry rifle?
OK if you expect to be shooting past 400 mtr regularly then fine but to me that's not a job for a light carry/back pack rifle.
Would not a short or medium length cartridge in 6.5 or 7mm do 99% of what you want?
they would be fine to 500 mtr with practice and a range finder.

If you shoot a Tikka (and why wouldn't you) then a short/medium cartridge isn't going to make any difference to the weight of the rifle and if you reload you can manage recoil (if it is a problem) by varying the load and step up to full power loads when you can handle it.
Remmag doesn't kick as hard as the short magnums
will be fine for hunting with but not to good for shooting lots of groups
