a cat endorsed onto your e cat

I recently have put my a cat nea15 onto my e endorsement , my reason given was I require a magazine that is capable of holding more than 7 rounds to compete in military/service rifle shoots. Was no drama really and got the blue app form and submitted that and received the pink permit to procure shortly after.
Took the firearm into local police station along with paper work for the serial number to be recorded.
Two weeks later im waiting for conformation in the mail? So I ring arms office and yep that's been received and recorded, I ask do I receive any sort of conformation that the paper work is all in order, reply was we can send you a copy, next day copy arrives SWEET.
Has anyone else been down this path, I was all new to the process and wasn't sure if it would even happen, Im in the northland district.

    Yep

It's quite an easy simple no fuss process if you already have an E endorsement.

I have done this with two .22cal firearms now, one is a Stirling M1600 the other is an Armi Jager AP74.

    Cheers

    Beavis

I've never had difficulties transferring A cat to E cat here in Hawkes Bay, although I would imagine it would be more difficult, but not impossible to transfer from Ecat to Acat.

As of 19 June 2013, there is no longer a requirement to obtain a permit to procure to re-manufacture / convert a semi-automatic firearm into MSSA configuration. This arises from a Court case taken by Richard Lincoln on behalf of the civilian gun owners community.

The process now is that you apply for an endorsement (an endorsement is specific to a particular firearm; not a type of firearm.) You need to specify: make, model, calibre and serial number on the endorsement application.

There is no longer a requirement to install security precautions before your endorsement is issued. The requirement now is that you need the security precautions installed, inspected and approved before you take possession of an MSSA (i.e before you re-manufacture your existing semi.)

Once you have completed the assembly of the new MSSA, you need to advise police that the MSSA is completed.

Note that after December 12, 2013 an MSSA is no longer deemed an MSSA because it is not kept AT ALL TIMES in sporting configuration. It will be possible after that date to convert between MSSA / non-MSSA to use the firearm for other purposes, loan it to an A-Cat licence holder, etc, etc.

    Kind regards

Sweet. FletchNZ attempted this about this time last year. PNHQ refused because it would "set a precedent" for everyone else. It would be great if this sillyness has got the boot.

Hi and welcome to the forum NSA.

A couple of questions regarding this.......
Does this mean for the likes of those of us with A-CAT AR's, that they wont need to go through everything to get an E-CAT endorsement?
We can get an endorsement to cover the rifle(s) we already have?

That statement is sure to get a lot of replies, and questions . How does it affect changing a calibre on an ar buy changing the upper to say 300blk.
