With a fine felt pen run a line straight down the rod It must be parallel and not wander. put a patch on and pull it into the bore so it starts rotating. Put a pencil mark or similar on the muzzle next to the line on the rod and mark the rod. Pull the rod through till the line and dot match and mark the rod again. Repeat till u run out of barrel. Measure the distance between the marks on the rod and average It needs to be a full 360 rotation to get the twist rate correct.
Thanks my bad did mean 360 . Pretty much did what you said and getting close to consistent 1in 12 twist . Yet last time was all over the place . All good now cheers
