Chopping a Howa Mini
Morning Gents
I just got an EXCL lite stock for my Howa mini.
It seems to have increased the overall length by a bit. I'm thinking about cutting a few inches of the end to make it flush with the end of the stock. The stock is to flexible for a bipod so it will just be used for off hand shooting.
Have any of you done this?
Good idea or not?
Thanks in advance.

Can you post a pic of the EXCL stock .
If any Stock flexes enough to be a problem shooting from a Bipod then it’s a problem that needs sorting .

Just epoxy in some arrow shafts.

It's not so much the stock flexing. It's more that the bipod won't seem to lock on tight. Its a Harris.

As above have no Experience with the exel stock but with the howa houge stocks
Most of them require forend Stiffing using epoxy and something to support
Arrow sharfts work well but if you don’t have those
Cheap ali tube from mitre 10 or bunnings would work a treat
This adds a little bit of weight but not overly so
As far as chopping the barrel I wouldn’t go much below 16”
(Personal opinion) you will still get good performance out of mini action caliber’s at that length
Any shorter and you loose more performance than it’s worth for the extra convenience of a shorter barrel everything is a trade off
Unless is a 300blk and you use mainly subsonic then it doesn’t really matter a 10” barrel would be heaps as you just load your ammo a bit hotter to Achieve the fastest velocity possible without going supersonic

My .223 mini is cut off so the suppressor is just off the the stock. Goes fine and my next one will be getting the same treatment.
