Hi guys I have googled this but haven't managed to find out the story behind these
This was my first ever high powered rifle, sold it years back but bought it back the other day
5 shot no mag , not sure what you call that - box mag ?
On top of barrel it's stamped Cogswell and Harrison Piccadilly
It has these stamps in pics

My guess a sporterised 303 from a Enfield or similar built just after the war ?

What he said, the only 303 worth owning. They are a 5 shot blind magazine plate. I had one that had all the chunky bits ground off. I gave it to my nephew for his first rifle
This was the first rifle I owned. Your action including front sight looks original.
I would consider looking for an original stock for it.
They were very accurate and often used by snipers in WW2
Yes, a P14 made by Eddystone Repeating Arms, a division of Remington. C&H probably did the post WW1 Weedon Repair Standard work to remove the lobbing sights etc. The barrel is original as the serial number matches the receiver. It should also be on the bolt and rear sight. You can find original stocks from Sarco Inc but that one probably has more sentimental value to you as is.
I've just checked my P14 bible. C&H modified 14,323 P14's to the Weedon Repair Standard. If the stock fitted was original to that rifle before someone sporterised it, you may find a six pointed star and an X stamped at the bottom of the grip.

Have not had a shot yet so not sure how it shoots now.Shot my first big billy with this many years ago, and also carried it around as a pig gun but far too heavy and long barrelled for that carry on in the thick rubbish
