What factory ammo do you trust to shoot long range with? Not necessarily for animals but for shooting steel so doesn't have to be the highest bc expanding at low speed bullet. Can always down for more drop just needs to be consistent.
Cheers

Any calibre in particular
Federal blue box has a good reputation. The pmc from belmont is excellent but calibre range is somewhat limited.
Shooting a 708. Range 550 to 600 yards
Norma 140 Nosler BT
Whichever one shoots best in your rifle is the main thing. I used precision hunter in my old 708 and it was awesome. Accurate as. Winchester deer season also went well in the rifle.
I dont shoot much if any factory ammo for personal usage, but id be pretty content with some of the Sako Factory Ammo. Especially if you own a Sako or Tikka Rifle.
Over the last few months I must have setup / sighted in about 15 different rifles (all sako's and tikka though, with the exception of one Victrix Armaments) all with the Sako factory ammo. Honestly iv been very impressed. sub 1/2" groups were common. There is also a review in NZHunter magazine with a Tikka Strata rifle and 3 different types of Sako ammo and all shot sub-half moa.
Just before lockdown I tested a 300wm that supposedly wouldn't shoot under an inch at 100. First try with the Gamehead pro and our scope produced below group. Its real good stuff.

I wouldn't mind rummaging through your range bins!
lol yea all the brass gets raided. I try to select calibers for shoots/training days that I and work mates reload for :D
The other problem with that bin is I don't think you will find any 708 cases in there. I don't think sako do 708 as far as I could see
With the Sako ammunition, how does measured velocity line up with factory claims? I like running Norma, but some of the Sako ammo looks interesting.
+1 for the one that shoots best in your rifle, back when I used factory ammo I used Winchester deer season my mate still uses it he shoots goats out to 600 metres goes really good. But stick to the one that goes best
I think factory ammo has improved so much in last few years it gives most peoples hand loads a run for there money.
I had a Tikka 260 (that won the last long range shoot with Gibo driving it)that I ran Hornady match ammo in and it shot amazing, 5 shoots into one hole big hole.
Had a ruger precision 6.5 Creedmoor and ran cheap as hornady whitetail ammo that VC said worked well for him. At 800 yards it would put a mag full into a i phone size gong all day.
Both guns I never tried any other ammo with.

I'm tempted to try this: https://www.guncity.com/sako-7mm08-1...uantity-363542
Not displeased with Hornady SST 139g, but the Sako ammo is cheaper and may even be better.
Iv never personally chrono'd it, but iv heard some reports (at least in 270 calibre) that it chrono'd low. Ill have to chrono some.
@Remmodel7 there are no 7-08 in that bin, but Sako made a 7mm-08 load just for NZ. Its the Gamehead softpoint variant. Iv not personally shot it - but id expect it would shoot excellent, and it is available in NZ. You probably wont see it listed on Sako's website because it was/is an NZ special :)
Had a good run with hornady, super performance (ouch $$) great in the 308 for longer shots, whitetail 150gr for closer stuff. Also used hornady in my 223, cant recal which variety. The amount of shooting i do i can accept its me that makes more of a difference than the ammo, all of the ahove shoot minute of deer / goat / hare around 1-1.5" groups at 100m. If i'm being careful and wind plays nice have had factory going through the same hole..... all this done with a lowly tikka!
Yea might try the precision hunters and some sako if I can find it. Currently using hornady white tail which is ok but always looking for better
139 gr sst superpeeformance shoots well out of my 7mm08.
It’s awesome ammo that Sako and use Hornady Precision Hunter and shoots well
In a Bergara HMR Tikka TACA1 6.5 Creed.
Anyone know if Sako 7x64 can be sought?

Be interest in a comparing it to the hornady sst
@MB did you ever try the sako ammo?
or has any one else been using the sako 7mm08 ammo with what results?
No! Had a big trip planned and no time to recheck zero, so bought some more SST, then panic bought some more SST as the shelves were emptying fast a couple of months ago. Not sure what it's like now. I still intend to try/switch to the Sako ammo, but it'll be a while away.
Price will never drop back now
Tested Sako 6.5*55 Gamehead 130gn (sierra130 gamechangers). Mv off my chrony matched Sako box info and accuracy was 1/2 moa @200m. Excellent ammo and by all accounts v good brass.
@ChrisW any idea when beretta nz will be bringing in more 708 sako ammo ? Currently seems to be sold out everywhere.
I tried the 270 stuff in my old 270 and it was incredibly consistent and if memory serves me correctly it was pretty close to what was on the box in relationship to fps that was the sako green tip stuff.
I’m liking the Sako factory for the creed also. Brass is also good.
