    Cost of rebarrel

Just playing with the idea of rebarreling my Mod7 243 to a fast twist 6mm for 105gr vlds or maybe even 6.5x47 (a caliber I've always wanted to try).
I see what gunworks charges on their website but I'm after real world costs and feed back, is there any hidden costs, any thing extra I should allow for?

Not planning on going over the top like a super ultra match grade barrel, just thinking 22" and the same contour of the factory tube and a decent quality tube...

Depends on whether you are going to true the action, fit a sako style extractor etc. If it is just a straight re-barrel there should not be any extra costs. Going to factory contour might be an extra charge as it probably isn't what the barrel maker provides.
Call Gunworks and talk to them, they are up front and honest.

Are you going to give it a fancy paint job afterwards? If yes add $300
    Threaded for suppressor?

Thanks guys. No, as said nothing fancy literally unscrew the old tube and replace with a slightly longer one in 243 1:7.5 or 6.5x47 1:8. No paint, flutes, bells or whistles.

Was quoted 1100 for a 7mm Shillen fitted and trued. With the mob in Hamilton.

Trueflite were around $900, but think they're now closer to the $1000 mark - depending on what barrel finish you want. Give them a call and get a quote.

If you can, I suggest that you go just up to next contour ( Remington sps or tikka lite), it is not going to make your gun much heavier but maybe more accurate with a bit less flex in the barrel. A full Blue print might not be neccessary but getting the front face of the action trued essential.
    Good luck with the build

For 900 to 1000 dollars, Madco will fit a match SS barrel with a matt finish in Aust. Local smiths will fit a truflite or us barrel for similar or a bit less. Flutes are stupidly expensive here also.

agreed but FWIW none of my 3 rifles with Remington 700 Actions were "trued" in any waywhen rebarreled. All shoot pretty good @ well under the magic MOA.

    Maybe I have been lucky.

My barreled Shilen barrel shoots better and was less fussy then either of the Truflite ones I have

I'd be calling Hugh Bradley down at Stager Sport. Think about $850m all done on one of his barrels, have a couple already and a 3rd being done soon, very skilled gunsmith with loads of knowledge and advice.
