Thread: Costly mistake

Thought I’d share save others just tried to fit a tikka barrel to a sako xs action but threads where different anyone else found this out? Cheers

Haha have just been advised can get the tikka barrel re threaded to fit sako action hopefully not to costly

XS also have a smaller muzzle thread it's m14 not m15 on a Sako 90 that is.

I’m a bit lost (dumb hik) so they are the same thread but the diameter is slightly smaller on the cs action?

Anything can fit if you apply enough brute force and ignorance.

so what thread is the action/barrel supposed to be? 1"-16? But one or the other or both have just been machined to slightly different diameters?

I could help you out probably. Drop it in to me in Wanganui. Im always looking for more experience. I've remachined a few barrels to fit actions without effecting the headspace.

Genuinely interested in the difference as im far more interesting in the XS action if its actually scaled for diameter not just length. Id take Roarless up he's done some kimbers and they are a bit more involved that many options. Ive done a few mini action howas but they are simple.
