    Covering ceracoat

Ok so I just bought a chassis stock rifle and it's cerakoted black.
I want to change it to a lighter colour that isn't going to attract so much heat from the sun when it's lying out on the range, because it's just going to be arrange rifle. Any recommendations or should I just spray paint it with a rattle can.
Hopefully I can remove the spray paint with acetone should I decide to change it.

Try a sand colour your trouble will be trying to get the coverage over that back paint. Without a huge build up of paint.

Why not try swap the chassis for a FDE or desert sand one before you try changing the colour... It's worth a shot. You will be hard pressed to remove the Cerakote, and any buildup will make it look a bit crap.

Don't want to remove it, just make it less of a heat attractor. I got it 2nd hand.

Ask a panel beater if they have a two pot epoxy that will go over it

you could go the horse bandage route....... or insulation tape, its not as agricultural as might first think if you do it carefully...my S/S Howa has a large section of the barrel covered by single piece of insulation tape as was going to take it down to stewart island...I didnt go as cinders put us in home D and I havent got around to removing it yet...Ive had different tapes stay on barrels for over 10 years, remove them and the blueing is still pristine.
there is special cloth tape specifically for the job, most is camo so may look a bit daft on range rifle...the adhesive tape physiotherapists use is a plain tan, might be better suited, perhaps??
