Criterion barrels
I'm thinking of rebarrel a rifle to 6 creed and figured that Criterion offers a prefit option. Anybody had any experience with these? It works out a bit cheaper and I don't have to send the rifle away. Technically I could do it in my workshop if I decide to do it... Any feedback appreciated

I've got a tikka prefit one in 284 and pretty happy with it.

I have a Criterion fitted to a Tikka 695 (catalogued for T3). Have not fired it yet. Criterion were responsive to my questions. I'm happy. Looks nice inside. Looked at another Criterion pre-fit and the chamber was not symmetrical (poor quality control), so don't accept the barrel without checking with a borescope.

got one in 6mm cm, probably a few years old pulled off a rem700 (parted out) and put on another rem action, yet to fire it because it had a short throat and tight neck and wouldn't chamber factory ammo, it requires neck turning for some brass (was planning on using nosler), have just got a couple of boxes of hornady factory ammo to use the brass (thinner necks on these) if it proves to shoots ok i will neck turn the 100 bits of new nosler brass i have. i will test it this weekend if new scope shows up and will report back. I havent shot it yet. the gunsmith had another customer with the same issue (prior to me), they ended up neck turning the brass.
check chamber dimensions and if you make sure it will fire factory ammo and you should be sweet to reload what ever brass suits you. if i could go back i would have got a blank and reamed to suit with suitable tolerance.
@atis this is why i am looking for a neck turning tool, you may want to hang onto it lol

I have fitted a heap of them over the years been pretty much trouble free
there was one bad 223 one but was swapped out without issue
Pre fit ones seem to shoot lights out from the ones I have fitted for guys
25+ of them now
Last ones were 6mm creedmoor match barrel on a rem 700
And a tikka t3x in 6mm creedmoor with sporting profile
Both preform extremely well

I fitted one in 28 nosler for a customer on a savage action and it does shoot very well.
But if you can, try to go with the local made brands of barrels, they shoot as well and they need your money more than the Americans.

In AR barrels I have 2 16” and 1 20” all 223. 18” 308 for a large frame AR. 28” 260 rem for a bolt gun. They all shoot extremely well and I’ll be getting another in 6.5CM for a bolt gun soon, probably a 18-16” barrel.
