What's your barrel length and load @buzzman ?

Old 7mm08 isn't very sexy but seems to work okay!

Self imposed limit of 500 yds with this rifle as I beleive 1000 foot pounds of energy is the minimum for a clean kill on deer

Yep 18” barrel running factory 150 precision hunter ammo good to 550 on steel so far. Awesome on deer and tahr out to 400. (Young fella not shooting just teaching him technique early).

That's good news as I currently have some factory 150gn precision ammo and the components to load my own

Mine is a 17" barrel, have you worked out the velocity yet ? I haven't had a chance to chrono the factory ammo nor a chance to load any hand loads yet....

No have not put it through a chrono yet but worked out from drop it is only doing around 2,575fps which i calculate drop too and hit steel out to 550 so cant be far off. So not going fast but still enough punch out too 500 if need be.

I'm picking hand loading may be able to recover some lost velocity too not that it matters if it already has enough out to 500 yards that's more than enough for me
