Was Looking at a nice AR the other day but I would have needed to fit a new A cat stock and get a rifle length buffer system for it which starts bumping the price up quite a bit. As an alternative can I do this?

Correct, go for gold. As long as you need tools ( destructive or creative ) to make it a free standing pistol grip, I.e E cat. You'll be good.

Jmowlem was selling somthing like this on trademe a while ago. Should be good to go then. Some of the hogue grips already come with a hole in the back of them which would suit this type of setup nicely.
Yeah, it's funny, the fuzz used to look at that as a "contrivance" and wouldn't accept it, but it seems to be okay now.
blu-tac or sellotape would suffice.
I've been told the cops won't accept anything "glued and screwed", but the law doesn't actually say that this isn't allowed, and the police don't interpret the law, and anything not forbidden by law is legal and all that.

OK so I have turned, threaded and bent a piece of alloy rod for this and it came out pretty good. Probably look more factory if it was coated so anodising or powder coating are the options I guess. What do you reckon would be best?
The Servo stocks have the alloy rod that joins the stock to grip epoxied into the grip I think and they seem to be legalQuote:
