Thread: Do I need a suppressor?

I run a supressor and electronic earmuffs, the earmuffs are for when I have time to get set up for shot, the supressor for when I don't.

heck, if I'm at the range for a day I'll double up with earplugs under the muffs. ears and eyes are well worth looking after.

Don't be dumb, get a surpressor and look after your hearing. The other advantages are a wee bonus.

Suppresors also make it hard for animals to locate the direction of a shot. Buys you a few seconds for follow up shot or secondly at a second animal.

Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.

Suppressor Pros/Cons
Extra cost to thread and to buy a can (DPT overbarrel are great). Tames recoil somewhat, easier on the ears and can improve accuracy. The big con is extra weight and length to the barrel. That said a suppressor is not essential and the money saved can be used on ammo to train. if money is a problem then unless you're going to go something decent like a DPT save your coin and put it into training/ammo.

You can't fix lost hearing.
Bloody wish we had them when I started shooting and bloody wish Dad had used hearing protection for the rest of our shooting so that I would have learned to also. I hate not having my good hearing anymore when bush stalking!
I used to hear all the deer I shot in the bush before I saw them. Now I usually see them before I hear them. No idea how many piss off that I don't hear now.
