@7.62 that's awesome mate! It's really cool when people put in the time and effort to bring these old sporters back to like new condition. Warms my heart mate, really does.
@csmiffy well on the bright side, you'd probably want a bit more barrel with a .22 mag. It's a great cartridge the humble .22 Mag, works well with Hares that have got wise to hunters with LR. I used to use a Marlin in .22 mag, used to knock them flat at quite the distance.
This is my Wife's Rifle.
I found it in a Gun shop for cheap. We stripped the hideous brown lacquer from the Beech stock and oiled it up.
Shoots well.
I had a Krico semi auto with a tube magazine years ago,it was a nice little Rifle.
The krico center fire and anschutz were some of the lightest actions you could get your hands on to build light rifles.kind of between a kimber and Remington 700.
I had a few in my hands over the years, in 222, 222 magnum, 243 and 308.
@norsk that's really nice, I like what you've done with the stock. I have the same model, if your wife's is anything like mine, it will be a fantastic shooter. I couldn't put a number on just how many future generations of vile critters have been wiped out by mine. I'm really happy to see someone else with one.
More Anschutz/Krico stuff.

Found a krico .22 in my pile of lesser used rifles the other day actually, forgot I had it (as part trade a while ago). Must give it a try one day hahahaha
I'm trying to identify my Krico if anyone has any ideas...
